Richard Avery - Partner
Richard’s career spans 30 years in various financial management roles with small companies and Fortune 500 corporations. Through the progression of his professional responsibilities he has become familiar with business operational issues in a variety of industries at all levels of management, including international operations. He began his involvement with captive insurance companies in 2001 with primary responsibility for accounting and regulatory compliance issues. He eventually became the CFO/COO with another management company and had oversight for all operational issues for 100 captives. Richard holds an MBA degree in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and is a CPA licensed in the state of Arizona.
Cindy Avery - Partner
Cindy is a trained tax paralegal with over 25 years experience in law firms and small businesses, and has been involved in the captive insurance industry since 1999. Cindy has assisted in the formation and on-going management and administration of well over 100 captives. She has extensive experience in tax research, high-end estate and tax planning, offshore corporate formation and compliance, domestic corporate formation and governance, and insurance underwriting and claims processing for captives. Since becoming involved in the captive industry, Cindy has gained experience and relationships in a number of captive jurisdictions including British Virgin Islands, Nevis/St. Kitts, Anguilla, The Cook Islands, Panama, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. Cindy earned a diploma in paralegal studies from the American Institute of Paralegal Studies in 1987.
Ken Avery - Vice President of Business Development
Ken has an extensive background in Information Technology and Project Management, spanning 25 years. He enjoys challenges, and he utilizes his analytical experience in putting together solutions to turn those challenges into successful opportunities. Ken earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Utah Valley University, majoring in Digital Media with a Project and Information Management emphasis. As a member of the Montera team, Ken serves on the Board of Directors of the Utah Captive Insurance Association.
Neola judd - Office Manager
Neola has held the position of Office Manager at Montera Captive Insurance Management since September, 2014. She is responsible for making sure that all staff members are receiving administrative support as well as ensuring that all supplies are well stocked and important documents are placed securely where they can be found again easily. She monitors and tracks the status of a number of operational projects and interacts with clients to obtain necessary documents and information for those projects. As a mother of six children, Neola comes with an extensive set of organizational and customer services skills.
Rachel Oberon - Senior Accountant
Rachel joined Montera Captive Insurance Management in April, 2015. She manages the accounting staff, and is responsible for allocating the workload of the accounting department. Rachel oversees all aspects of monitoring, posting, verifying, posting, and reconciling transactions. She also participates in preparing quarterly financial statements, income tax returns and 1099 forms, Annual Statements, and acting as liaison with auditors and actuaries for annual reporting requirements. Rachel has been instrumental in developing processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Carolyn Alejano – Staff Accountant
Carolyn has extensive accounting experience in a variety of industries and has been on the staff at Montera Captive Insurance Management since July, 2016. She brings a wealth of knowledge and accounting expertise to our accounting department and is responsible for entering transaction details, reconciling accounts, and monitoring and analyzing account information for a number of our clients. Doubling as an account manager, Carolyn interacts between clients and the accounting department to ensure that all information is received and processed in a timely manner.
